Anger is a natural human emotion. It can signal when something feels wrong, unfair, or unsafe. At COPE, we help you understand the message behind your anger and use it as a tool for positive change. Managed well, anger can motivate you to address problems and set healthy boundaries, allowing you and your family to thrive at home and in life.

Anger becomes a “problem” when it’s frequent, intense, or leads to harmful behaviors—such as yelling, aggression, or damaged relationships. It’s also a concern when it affects your health or prevents productive communication. COPE Family Support’s Anger Management classes teach you how to recognize these patterns early and replace them with healthier responses.

Our licensed therapists can also work with your family as a unit through family counseling services.

In COPE’s anger management classes, you’ll learn how to recognize your triggers, manage your emotional reactions, and respond in healthier ways. Our certified specialists teach practical skills for staying calm under stress, communicating more effectively, and solving problems without escalating conflict.

You’ll also learn strategies to rebuild relationships, especially within families, and create more positive outcomes for yourself and others.

Yes. 81% of those counseled by COPE therapists report better mental health.

Studies show that evidence-based anger management classes like those at COPE Family Support can decrease anger feelings by improving problem-solving skills.

  • Problem-solving skills increased from an average score of 28 to 82 on a 100-point scale.
  • Communication skills increased from an average score of 28 to 82.
  • Self-reported problematic anger levels decreased from an average score of 111 to 56.

Each of these represents substantial improvements

At COPE, we teach and practice strategies you can use right away, such as:

  • Pause before reacting so you can think clearly
Practice calming techniques like deep breathing or taking a short break
  • Communicate assertively using respectful, non-blaming language and “I” statements (e.g., I feel, I want, I need)
  • Identify and plan for triggers so you’re ready to respond differently
  • Apply problem-solving skills to find constructive solutions

Our goal is to help you manage anger in ways that protect your relationships, your health, and your peace of mind.

Yes. COPE’s anger management classes are approved for court referrals. Our certified specialists offer structured, evidence-based programming designed to meet legal requirements while supporting personal growth and family healing.

COPE’s trauma-informed, culturally respectful environment helps clients achieve real, sustained change.

Clearly, anger management can improve problem-solving and wellness. It can help restore families and strengthen communities one person and family at a time. It has also proven effective at reducing recidivism, which is when someone who was previously in prison re-offends, is convicted, and goes back to prison. COPE’s anger management programs can help you and your family reset, learn to work with each other, and grow together.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) (also called Individual Psychotherapy) is one of the most effective approaches—it helps you recognize triggers, shift thinking patterns, and practice new responses. Techniques like emotional mindfulness and response disruption also add value.

Your COPE anger management specialist may recommend that you attend Individual Psychotherapy sessions along with anger management classes to get the one-on-one time you need to improve outcomes in your life

At COPE, affordability is a priority. The program is a flat cost $475 that includes a registration fee and 12 sessions for a certificate of completion.

This flat fee ensures transparency and peace of mind—no hidden costs or surprise charges. At the end of the 12-session program, participants receive a certificate of completion that is accepted for court requirements and personal development needs.

COPE is committed to making high-quality, evidence-based parenting education accessible to all families. We accept a range of insurance plans and offer flexible payment options and sliding scale structure for most services to help ensure that cost is not a barrier to participation. Our goal is to support every parent in accessing the resources they need, regardless of financial circumstances.
